Group Games

Here are some games that I've played before that I want to remember. Keep in mind that kids games can be just as fun for adults you just have to get people that will get into it and enjoy it.

-Marshmallow Tag- A gallon size zip-lock bag for each player with a cup or two off flour and about 15 marshmallows. If you want to play teams wear different colors on you wrist. Also tell everyone to wear dark clothing so that you can see how many times they have been hit.
-Another variation is to cut up panty hose and fill with about 1/3c. of flour and tie. Keep picking them off the ground and re-useing them.

-Marker Tag- Same thing as above but instead tell everyone to bring old light (white is best)shirts. This time you write on others with crayola markers. Again teams members wear a certain color on their wrist or head.

-Tree Tag- Or in the Church they call it missionary tag. You can either play it standing up or laying down. Laying down is more fun but you might get rug burn or scraps on you. The gist of the game is kinda similar to duck-duck-goose as in you run around trying to tag the other person up. For this game it is preferable that you have at least 10 players. You stand (or lay) in a circle with a partner. Two will be standing and one will be chasing the other. The one that is being chased will run until he/she links arms with someone (or lays next to someone) the person opposing them has to then start running around the circle to avoid getting tagged. If they get tagged they reverse and now are the chaser.

-Water (or clothes) Relay- For school field day we all played water relay. You make up how you want to play. Some Examples are who's team can fill the bucket the fastest with just one sponge by passing it over your head. Or you can use a small cup to fill the bucket.
- Clothes Relay- My mom switched it up by putting (old) larger clothes (Larger than the kids playing) in baskets. You have to run to a the basket and put on three things (ex. pants, shirt, hat) and then run to the end. The next player runs when you get to them.

-Egg Balance- Just like a relay game but this time you will balance a egg on a spoon. You will have two teams competing. If the egg falls the player starts over. Preferably played outside since the egg will break. If you want to play with little children inside I have seen it played with pom-poms or cotton balls.

-Flour Penny- I don't really know the name of this game. I thought my mom had made it up but I recently seen pics of someone playing it on facebook. You put flour on a normal size plate to cover it two inches thick. Use another plate to flatten the top and place a penny in the middle. Taking turns each player cuts a chunk of flour until the penny falls. Once the penny falls the player that the penny fell on then has to pick up the penny with their mouth.

-Hand Game- Everyone lays on their stomaches in a circle, heads facing in. Link arms with you hands flat on the ground. You will start going clockwise tapping you had one hand after another. If anyone taps their had twice that means reverse (so now your going counter clockwise). If ony hand hesitates then that hand is out. The point of the game is to try to keep your hands in the game. You have to pay attention to when someone taps twice cause that is what will throw you off.

-Musical Tape- We have all played musical chairs as a kid. This is my moms version. Instead of chairs you use masking tape on the floor. For every player except one. When the music stops whoever isn't on the tape is out. Don't forget to tear a peice of tape off the floor.

-Bongo Ball Play normal baseball but with a different bat and ball. The bat is made of a sparklets container attached to a stick. Then use the same bouncy ball that you used to play four-square with.

Head bands, Blanket, Infant Beanie

Here are a few recent projects that I've finished this week. I wanted to make these for gifts and for photo shoots.

Tara recently had mad some head bands so I decided that I wanted to make some myself. I bought some ribbon and flowers for this project. Here are the bows that Sheree and I made the other day. Now all I have to do is attach them to some head bands.

I wanted to crochet a unique blanket for photo shoots with little babies to add to my images. Of course I would prefer if they had some cute things to add to the images but if they don't I'll have some cute things on hand. I also have yarn to make one for the baby boys I just need to get started on it. I would have loved to give these out for gifts but they just were too much work.

I've been wanting to learn how to make beanies. Wendy told me that her enrichment was learning how to make beanies. Wendy must have been inspired to ask me to come along :-D. I've been wanting to ask grandma Sanders to teach me but never got around to it. Well when I was there I didn't want to make a plain beanie I was dieing to know how to make one with flaps. So we asked and a lady there taught me how :-D so here is my first project. Of course I wanted to make these for photo shoots too.

Starter Survival Food Storage

These are easy painless items for those that haven't started. It is good to think of things that will not use food items that were to spoil (like milk) as an additional ingredient. This is mainly for if there was a huge disaster where we were not able to get to the grocery store. If you can think of other food items things that have shelf life please let me know so I can add them.

Purchase:
-Ramen Noodle Soup (10 per person in your household)
-Rice Sides (8 per person) You can add boiled water to the bag to cook. Do not purchase noodles as they will get soggy in this proses.
-Paper clips (to seal the rice sides bags while they cook)
-granola bars (1 box per person I buy the cheap wal-mart brand that has 24 in the box)
-Canned food
-Water purification tablets (approximately 15 gallons per person)
-First aid kits.
-Water (At least 4 Gallons per person for a start add more as you can).
-Extra prescription medicine, personal needs. (cycle depending on shelf life)
-Diapers/pull-ups
-Formula for babies.
-Feminine products.
--- the list goes on. This list is just intended to get you thinking. You know what your families needs are so the best thing is to think of every need you have and purchase enough to last you a few months. The best way is to purchase a few things that are on your list every time you go shopping so it is not overwhelming. Use the savings tab on the left to help you save money.

Store all of your survival items in a safe place where they would not be touched. You don't want to dip into your survival items because then you wouldn't have the necessities when you really need them.

*Also every few months check back into your items to see if there is anything that has expired or items that you no longer need ex. you kid no longer wears diapers.

Coupon Websites

We all love to save. I really have never been a coupon shopper but I thought I might give it a try since money is getting tighter for the all of us I'm sure. I've come across these websites.

Pinching your Pennies

Grocery Smarts

Cool Savings

Money Saving Mom

Now please don't make this a money spending thing by buying things that you wouldn't normally buy since you have a coupon. Search for things that you normally put into you basket and print out the coupon before you go shopping.

If you know of anymore please share because I'm sure others would like to know too.

Hand & Foot

This is mainly a refresher for specs for those that already know this game. It is too complicated to explain in a post. Sorry. If your really are interested ask around for some that does know how to play to show you in person.

This game is for a larger group of at least 6 preferably more. Combine about 8 face card decks specifically for this game because it takes too much time to sort them out to individual decks again. You must have even players as you will play with a partner.

-You may not get into your foot until you have completely finished your hand. Any cards still in your hand will count against you if someone goes out. So don't get stuck with a red three or joker in your hand.

Start out with ___ cards in your Hand and ____ cards faced down in your Foot.

Specs:
3's-7's= 5 pts.
red 3's= 300 pts.
8's-k's= 10 pts.
2's & A's= 20 pts.
Jokers= 50 pts.
(Jokers & 2's= Wildcards)

Closed books:
  Must have at least:
- 2 Dirty books (w/wilds)= 300pts
- 2 clean books (no wilds)=500pts
(Books are made up of number or face card. Ex. all cards must be 10's. If they include Jokers or 2's they become dirty books.)

To initially lay down
sets of 3 cards that equal to or greater than 70pts
